Parents receive primary school place offers
Like many of my constituents, we received an offer of a primary school place for the youngest of our three boys this week. Croydon Council tell me that: - everyone who applied on time received an offer; - of the 4,725 places offered, 92 per cent were for one of parents’ three most favoured schools. This is three percentage points higher than last year; - almost 96 per cent of offers were for a school that parents' had expressed some preference for. It's great to see that the Council is coping with the rising demand for school places (I have been working hard to ensure they get sufficient funding from the Government to provide the extra places needed) and that more parents are getting a place at a school of their choice. But there are still about 190 parents that have been offered a place at a school they didn't apply to. If you are one of my constituents, find yourself in this positon and want to appeal, please get in touch.

Commenting on my blog
I welcome readers' comments on my blog. Unfortunately, sometimes people go too far and use blog sites to post comments which are abusive or defamatory to third parties. For this reason, your comments, posted using the form on this page, don't appear until they have been moderated, to make sure that they don't cross that line.
My policy is that I will always let comments appear from people who disagree with me, in a spirit of promoting reasoned debate. However, I will not allow comments to be posted which are defamatory to someone else, or which are racist, sexist, homophobic or otherwise likely to fail a 'public decency' test.
Consequently, there may be some hours delay after you post your comment until it appears on the public pages. |
