The future of Crystal Palace Football Club
31/05/2010 18:25:00

Today, the CPFC2010 consortium, who are endeavouring to acquire both Crystal Palace Football Club and Selhurst Park (which is not owned by the club), posted a very worrying statement on the club's website.

They have received a contract from Bank of Scotland, who are the main creditors of Selhurst Park Ltd (and who as part of the Lloyds Banking Group are 43 per cent owned by you and I), which they believe does not reflect the verbal agreement that they had reached with them. If a contract isn't signed soon there is a real risk that the Club will be liquidated.

I will be contacting the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics,Media and Sport to ask them to intervene with Lloyds. As CPFC2010 say, we cannot allow a club support by thousands of people with a proud history to be consigned to history.

Commenting on my blog

I welcome readers' comments on my blog. Unfortunately, sometimes people go too far and use blog sites to post comments which are abusive or defamatory to third parties. For this reason, your comments, posted using the form on this page, don't appear until they have been moderated, to make sure that they don't cross that line.

My policy is that I will always let comments appear from people who disagree with me, in a spirit of promoting reasoned debate. However, I will not allow comments to be posted which are defamatory to someone else, or which are racist, sexist, homophobic or otherwise likely to fail a 'public decency' test.

Consequently, there may be some hours delay after you post your comment until it appears on the public pages.
