Internship Opportunity at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission
13/01/2017 15:03:00

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is seeking applications from young people aged 18-25 to join a new CWGC Centenary Interns programme in 2017.

The CWGC has launched this programme as part of its commemoration of the centenary of the Great War.

Under the scheme, interns will join the Commission for four months in Belgium and France. They will be trained to work as paid guides in some of the Commission's most iconic sites, including Tyne Cot in Belgium, where a number of UK commemorative events will be held to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele. Interns will also be required to undertake research and help offer context and a clearer understanding of both the CWGC and the First World War.

To apply, you must:

• be aged between 18 and 25

• be available from June to late September/early October 2017

French language skills would be beneficial but are not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in the First World War and would like to gain a real insight into the workings of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

If you are interested in applying, you can find more details on the CWGC Blog at http://blog.cwgc.org/interns2017/ or for more information, you can email: interns@cwgc.org.

Commenting on my blog

I welcome readers' comments on my blog. Unfortunately, sometimes people go too far and use blog sites to post comments which are abusive or defamatory to third parties. For this reason, your comments, posted using the form on this page, don't appear until they have been moderated, to make sure that they don't cross that line.

My policy is that I will always let comments appear from people who disagree with me, in a spirit of promoting reasoned debate. However, I will not allow comments to be posted which are defamatory to someone else, or which are racist, sexist, homophobic or otherwise likely to fail a 'public decency' test.

Consequently, there may be some hours delay after you post your comment until it appears on the public pages.
