Tomorrow, I am doing a sponsored walk around the edge of the constituency (roughly speaking, from the back of New Addington to Norwood Junction station, into central Croydon and then back out to New Addington again).
I was really overwhelmed with the support I received for my sponsored walk last year in aid of the Croydon branch of the Alzheimer’s Society so I’ve decided to make it an annual event. This year, I'm raising money for Help for Heroes, who are making a real difference to the lives of servicemen and women wounded in Afghanistan or Iraq. Whatever you think of these conflicts, I hope you agree that those who are injured serving our country deserve the best possible support.
I am really honoured that Fusilier Craig Smeaton from the 1st Battalion, The Fusiliers, who lives in Fieldway and has served in Iraq, is doing the walk with me.
If you would like to sponsor me, you can donate online (and automatically reclaim Gift Aid so that Help for Heroes gets more money) here or you can send a cheque made
payable to ‘Help for Heroes’ to me care of 36 Brighton Road CR8 2LG.
