Move your business to Croydon and pay no business rates for a year
09/01/2014 12:22:00

Croydon Council and the Mayor of London have launched a major campaign offering 100 per cent relief on business rates for the first year if any new companies move to Croydon.

The rate relief scheme is available until March 31st 2015 and is also open to existing Croydon-based firms that are expanding and require larger office space. On top of the discount, companies are able to apply for other deals on rent and data services. Visit www.croydonratefreeforayear.co.uk for more information.

Initiatives like this are just what we need to revitalise our town centre. Following the game changing news that Westfield and Hammerson will be investing over £1 billion to regenerate our retail core over the next few years, there is a real opportunity to change perceptions of our town and sell our underlying strengths of relatively low rents and fantastic transport links.

Exactly why should a business be subsidised to move to Croydon rather than anywhere else? These decisions should be commercially driven and free from state interference.
