Small Grants - Round 6 open now
12/11/2013 13:27:00

The Small Grants Fund provides opportunities for local people and communities to come together, get organised and get things done. It focuses on getting small and innovative projects off the ground, projects which are designed to improve the quality of life for local people and their communities.

What will be funded?

The Council will consider your application only if your project addresses at least one of the following priorities:

• to encourage local pride and belonging

• to improve the network of advice and support to individuals and families affected by welfare reforms

• to help people care for one another's health and well-being

• to manage local publicly owned assets for community benefit

• to promote new ways of working with young people and help them make their voices heard.

Grants made in Round Six will be paid in the spring and early summer of 2014. If you are thinking of a summer 2014 project such as a community festival, you need to put in your bid to this round. You might also want to think about topical projects, such as activities which commemorate the First World War in the centenary year of its outbreak.

How much will be avaliable?

The total fund is £100,000 per year. The maximum grant will be £5,000 for an individual group and £15,000 where three or more groups come together in a partnership to run similar projects in different areas of Croydon.

Applications for support for summer festivals will be match funded up to a maximum of 50% of the total cost. Any funds awarded from the Small Grants Fund will be paid only when the match funding has been secured.

Applicants may apply for the full cost of other projects. However, raising funds from other sources makes it more likely your application will be successful, even if it is only a modest amount.

The Small Grants Fund is intended to pump prime new initiatives. Funding will therefore be given for a maximum of two years for the same project. However, funding for the second year will depend on the progress made in the first year.

The Council will normally provide only one grant per group at any one time. However, groups are welcome to apply in successive rounds of the small grants fund for support for different projects.

The deadline for the fund is Monday 16 December 2013 at 5pm.
