I'm not growing a moustache myself but I know a man who is...
I suspect most readers of this blog will know James Landale, by appearance even if not by name. He is the Deputy Political Editor of the BBC and hence a regular on our TV screens.
I was emailed the message below by a mutual friend and am advertising it to you because a) it's a great cause and b) he has twice given up his valuable time to speak to Croydon pupils attending the annual Summer School I organise and one good turn deserves another.
Please give generously.
Two years ago I grew a moustache for a month to raise money to help combat prostate and testicular cancer.
I know it looked ghastly but you were all very generous and we raised a lot of money.
Well it is the time to have another go. You may remember the charity. It is called Movember, the renamed month when men see how much fluff they can grow on their upper lip in the allotted four weeks.
The moustache will be as vile as before - you can watch the last one being removed here.
I hope you can help us do even better this time. The cause is close to my heart and family. And having had a spot of cancer myself, it is one about which I have a little understanding.
Let me give you one fact to chew over: one in nine of us men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some stage and not enough of us will tell our GPs about it. I am alive in part because my lymphoma was diagnosed early.
So if you can, do please support my Movember campaign by making a donation either online or by post by writing a cheque payable to 'Movember', referencing my name and Registration Number 1721226 and sending it to Movember Europe, PO Box 68600, London, EC1P 1EF.
To find out more about the work you would be helping to fund by supporting Movember, do have a look at the Programmes We Fund section on the Movember website.
And do please forward this email to as many people as you can on your email lists, twitter and Facebook and other social media.
You shall of course be able to monitor my efforts occasionally on BBC News and on twitter at @BBCJLandale.
