Yesterday, I took part in a litter pick at Love Lane Green organised by the excellent Rita McKay.
For those who don't know it, Love Lane Green is an area of Metropolitan Open Land on either side of the tramline to the east of Love Lane, which was sold into private ownership by the London Residuary Body following the abolition of the GLC. The current owner has allowed the Green to become overgrown and there is a problem with flytipping. As a result, it is a real eyesore at the moment.
The Council is working with the local residents association to try to bring it back into public use to provide some much needed facilities for the local community, particularly young people who currently have no option but to play in the street, which isn't safe for them and causes a nuisance to their neighbours.
