Public meeting on climate change
03/12/2012 09:55:00

On Friday 30th November I held a public meeting to discuss climate change at Matthews Yard, just off Surrey Street Market in the town centre.

There was a lively and useful discussion of both the scientific evidence as to whether the climate is changing and whether such change is being caused by human activity; as well as Government and council policy to limit such change and/or mitigate it.

Please feel free to take a look at the presentation I gave at the start of the meeting and let me know what you think:

Just a way for busy-bodies to impose red tape on businesses and governments to invent new taxes (climate change levies etc). If the government was serious it would stop all those crazy wind farms/solar panel schemes and get on and build a few decent nuclear power stations. Tell the libdems where to go. Oh and pull out of the EU and its wasteful CAP.

APD has reached crazy levels. No other government imposes this level of tax on air travellers. And the foreign office likes to tell foreigners that the UK is open for business. Yep open for business, but we'll 1) fleece you on APD, 2) fleece you on the cost of a visa, 3) make you wait for up to an hour at immigration, 4) fleece you on VAT (queues at the refund counter at Heathrow are so long that many tourists give up).
