New primary school to open this month
04/09/2012 08:38:00

A new primary school opens its doors in my constituency this month, the Robert Fitzroy Academy in what was the Davidson Road Professional Centre at the junction of Davidson Road and Brampton Road.

The Academy will be run by the REAch2 Trust, which is led by two highly experienced headteachers. It will have four forms of entry, providing desperately-needed places for 120 children each year.

This new school is just part of the work that the Council is doing, with significant Government support, to provide additional primary school places to cope with the huge increase in the number of reception age children. At the moment, a number of my constituents are being offered primary school places some distance from where they live and further investment is going to be necessary to tackle this problem.
