Last week a new member of staff joined my team to help me manage the wide variety of constituency projects that I have set up and develop other ideas I have.
The core roles of an MP are to assist constituents who are experiencing problems with public services or private companies and our work at Westminster scrutinising legislation and holding the Government to account.
But I think there is more to the job than just lobbying the Government and the Council - the best MPs actually try to do things to change their communities for the better. So I have set up a Job Club on Monks Hill, a team of volunteers to help keep our parks and open spaces clean and Project Change to try to change perceptions of our young people. The new appointment, Mario Creatura, will help me manage these and future projects, accompany me on constituency visits and improve my communication with constitiuents about what I do (one of the key pieces of feedback from the survey I conducted last year).
Mario is a lifelong Croydon resident.
He was state educated in Croydon before going to read Classics at Royal Holloway, University of London where he also developed his interest in politics. He has previously worked in communication and project roles, most recently at the University of Surrey.
For completeness my full team is:
Parliamentary Assistant: Stephanie Reeves
Constituency Office Manager: Sara Bashford
Caseworkers: Eddy Arram, Sue Bennett, Katrina Jones
Constituency Assistant: Mario Creatura
