Funding to rebuild Archbishop Lanfranc School
24/05/2012 15:41:00

Some good news for the borough today - Michael Gove, the Secretary of State for Education, has announced that Archbishop Lanfranc School will be rebuilt via funding from the Priority School Building Programme.

Following the cancellation of Labour's Building Schools for the Future programme, under which some parts of the country saw all of their schools modernised but Croydon didn't receive a penny, the Coalition Government invited schools in urgent need of repair from across the country to apply for funding. 587 did so and Lanfranc is one of 261 that have been successful.

Although it is not in Croydon Central, I’ve been working closely with Malcolm Wicks MP to lobby on its behalf and it's great to hear that lobbying has paid off.
