Travellers at Lloyd Park
21/02/2012 11:47:00

I have been in regular contact with the Council re the travellers who have decided to set up home on the temporary car park at Lloyds Park.

Notices were served on them this morning, giving them until 10pm tomorrow to leave.

This is the same group of travellers that have been evicted from other sites in the borough in the last few months. Their behaviour is costing the Council thousands of pounds and the Government needs to look at tightening the law.

UPDATE: Council officers inform me that the travellers left Lloyd Park this (Thursday) afternoon and the area has been cleaned.

But Gav, you are the Government.

Or is it a case that you've run out of other people to blame for your Government, and your council's, failings?

I am obviously a supporter of the Government, but I am not a member of it!

The failing here is certainly not the Council's. They are doing everything they can within the current law. And it is not specifically this Government's - the problem is a long-standing one and the point I was making is that the law clearly needs to be tightened.
