Remembering the Holocaust
19/01/2012 23:11:00

A few weeks ago, I applied to the Backbench Business Committee for a debate to comemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, which falls on 27th January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The Committee granted my request and the debate took place this afternoon. You can read my speech - and the whole debate - here.

The Holocaust serves as a reminder of man's capacity for inhumanity to his fellow man. It is right that we remember what happened, both to pay our respects to the victims and to remind ourselves how things end when racism is left unchecked.
