Another reason not to vote for Ken
18/08/2011 12:56:00

Ken Livingstone has given an interview to Total Politics, in which he describes those of us who don't support him as evil, compares Boris to Hitler and says those who don't vote for him will burn forever.

London needs a Mayor who unites us, not one who thinks that people who have the temerity to disagree with him are evil. And, even in jest, to compare your opponent to someone who was responsible for the deaths of millions of people and to talk about people who don't vote for him "burning" after the events of last week is crass even by Ken's low standards.

Coming on the back of his appalling reaction to the riots, it's clear that he's the last thing London needs.

Asked why people should vote for him, Ken jokes: "It's a simple choice between good and evil – I don't think it's been so clear since the great struggle between Churchill and Hitler… The people that don't vote for me will be weighed in the balance, come Judgement Day. The Archangel Gabriel will say, ' You didn't vote for Ken Livingstone in 2012. Oh dear, burn forever. Your skin flayed for all eternity.'… I'll come round with a serious pitch nearer the time."

Gavin, it was a joke!

If you re-read my original post, I used the phrase "even in jest" - I know he was joking, I just don't think it was very funny.
