Boris announces over half a million pounds for New Addington
07/08/2011 08:11:00

I'm just back from a week's much-needed holiday in Devon.

Great to see that while I was away Boris Johnson has announced over £500,000 of funding to regenerate Central Parade in New Addington as part of a package for outer London town centres. New Addington is receiving the fourth highest amount of the 30 schemes announced to date. A big hat-tip for our London Assembly member Steve O'Connell, who has been lobbying hard on our behalf and for Boris himself for setting up this Fund (it almost goes without saying but there was no Outer London Fund when Ken Livingstone was Mayor).

All too often in the past, New Addington has been the forgotten part of Croydon. It's good to see that under the current Conservative administration at the Town Hall, it was the top priority when it came to submitting a bid for this Fund. And next week, I'll be announcing another example of New Addington getting top priority...
