On Monday, I met with Andy Crofts, the Principal of the new Quest Academy which took over from Selsdon High last September.
I helped secure £14.5 million from the Government to rebuild the school so I was keen to hear when work is planned to get underway. There have also been a number of negative stories in the local media over the last few weeks, which run counter to the feedback I have received from parents and local residents, and I wanted to hear the school's side of the story. Sure enough, there is no ban on physical contact but the school does expect high standard of behaviour and appearance.
One piece of good news that has been reported in the local papers is that from September there will be no unqualified teachers on the staff and every teacher will have a degree in their specialist subject - a big step forward.
