I’m a great believer that politicians should try to change the areas they represent for the better by doing things locally, not just by trying to change government or council policies. That’s why I set up a team of volunteers to help clean our parks and open spaces.
Since the recession, it has become very hard to get a job, especially for young people. I have therefore decided to set up a Job Club to help people get back into work. A Job Club is a group of individuals who get together on a regular basis to support each other through the job seeking process, helping with CV writing and contacts. Evidence from around the country shows that a high proportion of Job Club members find a job or training position within 6 months.
The Club will meet on a Wednesday from 1pm to 3pm at the Edgecoombe Community Centre on the Monks Hill estate. The first meeting is in two weeks' time on 13th April. If you are looking for work and wish to be a member or if you would like to volunteer to help people find work, please contact my colleague Andy Stranack at email@example.com.
