Over the last ten days, I have been contacted by a number of parents of pupils at Oval School in Addiscombe.
The school recently failed an Ofsted inspection and Croydon Council, on the advice of the Department for Education, appointed the Gipsy Hill Federation to support the school.
The parents who spoke to me were very concerned about the impact of this change on the school in the two days before half-term. I contacted Councillor Tim Pollard, the Cabinet member responsible for education and I am delighted to say that he and the Council share parents' concerns and that the Council has therefore terminated the relationship with the Gipsy Hill Federation with immediate effect.
Tim announced this evening that Ros Sandell, the Head of the highly rated Fairchildes Primary in New Addington, will be appointed Acting Head of Oval while the Council identifies a long-term Croydon-based partner.
