I learned today that I have been appointed to the Localism Bill Committee (Bills are initially debated for a day on the floor of the House of Commons and then a Bill Committee is established to go through the Bill line by line - the Localism Bill is a big bill so we will be meeting four times a week until mid-March).
Rather than being told by anyone official, I found out I was on the Committee because I suddenly started getting emails from lobbyists congratulating me and asking for a meeting - a good illustration of the sometimes bizarre way this place works.
Anyway, as I have posted before, this is a significant piece of legislation with lots of implications for Croydon so although it is going to take up a lot of my time it's a great opportunity.
