Four years ago, England would have lost this Test
30/11/2010 13:26:00

The First Test in Brisbane may have technically ended in a draw but psychologically it is 1-0 to England.

Four years ago, if we had found ourselves 221 runs behind after the first innings, we would have gone on to lose the Test. No question about it. This time, our top three batsmen all scored centuries (the first time that has happened for 86 years), two of them finishing unbeaten. Cook and Trott's stand of 329 runs for the second wicket is England's best ever in Australia. Ok so it was a good wicket to bat on but even so it is a long time since an Australian attack has looked so toothless. Roll on Adelaide and let's hope we win the toss and put them in to bat...
