I have been offline for 24 hours visiting Her Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde at Faslane some 25 miles north-west of Glasgow, which is the base for our Submarine Service including our strategic nuclear deterrent. It was a fascinating visit. Among other things, I got to go out with a group of Marines who were practising boarding hostile ships and attended a Regimental Dinner to mark the 346th anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Marines. Many thanks to those who organised it.
