Youth Parliament meets in the House of Commons
29/10/2010 16:01:00

Today, the Youth Parliament is meeting in the chamber of the House of Commons. I’m sad to say that a few of my colleagues object to this - for reasons I can’t understand, they think that allowing anyone else to sit in the chamber will diminish their standing as MPs. Personally, I think it is a fantastic idea. Politicians need to make a much greater effort to engage young people in politics. The Youth Parliament is one way of doing that. It was good to meet two of Croydon’s representatives - Charlotte from Shirley and Colm from Crystal Palace - and I hope they and their colleagues enjoyed the day.
