In November, TfL announced that they would be reviewing a number of bus routes including route N159. Their draft proposal was to withdraw route N159 but introduce two new routes, N109 running every 20 minutes via route 159 and the whole of route 109 to retain a central London to Croydon service and N64 via route 64 to retain a service to New Addington. The problem with this proposal is that the N64 would simply come up Lodge Lane and Montacute Road terminating at Salcot Crescent, whereas the N159 works its way around the estate.
Our London Assembly member Steve O'Connell organised a meeting with TfL at which he and I and the local councillors urged them to rethink their proposals. I'm glad to say they've seen sense and the new N64 will follow the N159 route from Addington Village, starting from this Saturday.
