It's "Croydon University Hospital", Mr Barwell.
You're not allowed to call it Maydie anymore
- as explained on your previous blog entry -
"A week not dying at Maydie".
Are they going to rename the road as well...?
It seems rather silly to rename the hospital so that it doesn't
sound like the road it is named after as it's still on the same road...?
...without changing the name of the road too...?
Also does this mean the Trust changes it's name too...?
I think part of Maydie's image problem may be related to the physical structure.
Parts of it are the remnants of the old Workhouse Infirmary and
It is a matter of historical fact that workhouse buildings
were designed too LOOK depressing to discorage people from using them
....so no matter how much effort is put into making them cheerful...
I have always felt there is a ghost of this era about the place ...
that cannot ever quite entirely be put to bed ...
which may partly explain some of it's bad press and the need for constant renaming.
The Naming of Trusts is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a trust must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the people use daily,
Such as Maydie, Hospital, Croydon or Trust,
But I tell you a trust needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can Trust tell us its tale in the media,
Or convince us statistically no one has died?
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover -
But TRUST HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
Sorry I've just been watching Logan's Run... it made me go quite TS Elliot...
