Andrew Lansley honours election pledge to scrap NHS London plans to downgrade Mayday
During the election campaign, Andrew Lansley visited Mayday and promised to scrap NHS London's review of hospital services in south west London, which would have involved downgrading Mayday.
Today he has honoured that promise (and indeed put an end to all top down reconfigurations of the NHS), making it clear that any changes must have support from GP commissioners and have regard to the views of patients and local authorities. In other words, the range of services at Mayday is now in our and our GPs' hands. Hopefully this will open the way to having a hyper-acute stroke unit at Mayday.
