Longest day of the campaign so far. Started with a visit to Clifford Road mosque then a hustings meeting at Croydon College. This is the only hustings meeting where they took a vote beforehand and a vote afterwards so you got to find out whether you had changed anyone's mind - for the better or for the worse! Before the meeting, the Conservatives were back in third place. I managed to drag us up to second, overtaking the Liberal Democrats and got the largest increase in my vote but Labour won so congratulations to Gerry on this occasion - hopefully things will be different in six days' time.
Then it was off to the Darby & Joan Club followed by calling on potential Conservative supporters who vote by post in Shirley followed by a meeting in Forestdale, following by more calling on postal voters this time in Fieldway followed by a house meeting on Monks Hill.
Nationally, David Cameron launched a contract with the electorate to do certain specific things in return for their vote. If we don’t do these things, if we don't deliver our side of the bargain, vote us out in five years’ time.
