Boris comes to Croydon
22/03/2008 17:43:00

Boris Johnson visited Croydon town centre today on the latest leg of his campaign to replace Ken Livingstone as Mayor of London.

Fortune certainly seems to be smiling on him at the moment. Not only is he ahead in the polls but even the weather seems to be on his side - 10 minutes before his arrival we were sheltering from a hailstorm but the skies cleared for the 45 minutes or so he was here.

I was struck by what a warm reaction he received. He was accompanied by our excellent London Assembly candidate Steve O’Connell and lots of people wanted to stop to talk to him and have their photo taken with him. A lot can still happen in six weeks but it would be fantastic to have a Mayor who was interested in places outside Zone 1.
