Wintery weather
22/12/2009 11:56:00

The Council coped well with the snow at the end of last week but the combination yesterday afternoon of rain, which washed away grit, followed by heavy snow during the rush hour made it extremely difficult for many people to get home. I had to abandon my car in Centrale car park and carry my starving five-month old son home (thank you Barry for giving me a lift the last part of the way).

Overnight, all primary and secondary routes have been treated along with priority one footpaths. Crews are currently concentrating on the secondary network and thereafter will drop into the side roads and cul-de-sacs where possible. Our street cleaning and parks teams have suspended their operations and have been treating priority 1 & 2 footpaths since 5am this morning. If conditions are particularly bad in your road, let me know and I will pass this on to the officers concerned.
