Annual charity walk for Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation
29/09/2016 08:04:00

On Sunday 16th October I will be doing my annual sponsored walk around the border of my constituency - a total of around 18 miles - in aid of the Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation .

Daniel was a young constituent of mine who tragically died after taking drugs at a rave. His parents, Tim and Fiona, established the Foundation to try to prevent other families from having to go through the pain of losing a child and to stop the damage done by drugs to young lives. I have the utmost respect for what Tim and Fiona have done and want to do my bit to support them.

If you'd like to sponsor me you can do so here or by sending a cheque to my office at 133 Wickham Road, Croydon CR0 8TE made payable to "Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation".

And if you are passionate about the charity or would just like to join us on the walk, get in touch by emailing gavin.barwell.mp@parliament.uk for more information.

• Route information: Gavin and the group will be meeting at the junction of King Henry's Drive and Fairchildes Avenue (outside Meridian High School) at 9.45am on Sunday 16th October. They will start the walk at 10am sharp. It should take about seven hours and it is a circular route so should be completed by about 5.00pm.

• In the previous years Gavin has raised:

o 2015: £2,596 for the South East Cancer Help Centre, Croydon

o 2014: £1,521 for the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre, based in Croydon.

o 2013: £2,771 for Croydon Visual Association for the Blind

o 2012: £4,570.39 shared equally between Mind in Croydon; Age UK Croydon; Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation and Nightwatch

o 2011: £2,885.34 for Croydon Crossroads

o 2010: £1,659.33 for Great Ormond Street Hospital

o 2009: £2,569.50 for Help for Heroes
