Great news re unemployment
19/05/2016 10:28:00

Yesterday, the independent Office for National Statistics published the latest unemployment figures.

I’m pleased to tell you that unemployment in Croydon Central has fallen by a remarkable 15% in the last month alone. Just 2.5% of economically active 16-64 year-olds are now claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance.

There are fewer people unemployed in my constituency today than at any time in my six years as an MP and fewer than half as many as there were at the end of the last Labour Government.

And with the Westfield Hammerson redevelopment of the Whitgift Centre due to get underway in less than a year’s time and major companies and government agencies moving back into Croydon, if we stick with the right policies we have an opportunity of achieving full employment - a job for everyone who wants one.
