Last year I produced a league table of how each primary school in Croydon had performed in their Key Stage 2 results. Oasis Academy Ryelands, which Oasis had only just taken charge of, came at the bottom of the table with just 39% of students achieving at least Level 4 in Reading, Writing and Maths.
It’s great to hear that this year 74% of their students have reached at least Level 4 in Reading, Writing and Maths – an increase of an incredible 35 percentage points.
The school has told me that whilst they’re understandably delighted by this news, they are still working towards getting Ryelands to the standard of an outstanding primary school, just like Oasis Academy Shirley Park.
This transformation is a testament to the very dedicated staff, students, parents and Governors at the school. Everyone should be rightly proud of their achievement, it’s a great example of what a change of management can achieve and I look forward to the school improving further over the coming years.
