Operation Minstead arrest
16/11/2009 22:39:00

Over the weekend, the police arrested someone in connection with a string of rapes, indecent assaults and burglaries that have occured across south London over the last seventeen years. The victims were all elderly women and several of them lived in Addiscombe or Shirley.

The individual concerned was charged today, appeared before Greenwich Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.

This arrest is the result of a long, pain-staking investigation. I know many people in Addiscombe and Shirley were concerned that the person responsible for these obscene attacks was still at large so if this arrest does lead to a successful prosecution those people will be able to sleep a little safer at night.
