Do you have a child born between 1/9/10 and 31/8/11? If so, the deadline to apply for a primary school place is approaching
21/12/2014 10:19:00

If you have a child who is due to start school in September 2015, don’t forget that the deadline to apply for a primary school place is 15th January. You’ll find the application form here.

I know from personal experience how stressful this can be having gone through it three times!

My strong advice is to put the full six options down just in case you don’t get your first choice. Putting additional options doesn’t reduce the chances of you getting your first choice, but it does mean that if you don’t get your first choice you at least get a school that you can easily get your child to rather than whatever is left after everyone else has been allocated their options. Every year, I am contacted by constituents who only put one school down and come to me saying, “If I can’t have x then I would accept y but the Council have offered me z”. It often turns out that if they had put y down as a second choice they would have been offered a place, but that school is now full so they end up with somewhere miles away.

You also need to check each school’s admissions policy to make sure your child has a reasonable chance of being offered a place.

If you need any advice, don’t hesitate to contact my office on 020 8663 8741.
