Parking in Croydon over Christmas and the New Year
23/12/2014 10:07:00

I’ve taken the new Labour administration at Croydon Town Hall to task on a few issues over the last couple of months. As it's Christmas, I’m delighted to be able to say something positive about them: it’s great to see them announcing a relaxation of parking enforcement over the holidays.

The whole borough will be free of parking enforcement on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Additionally, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve there will be no enforcement of the usual parking regulations in council-run car parks, no enforcement of the usual parking regulations in on-street parking bays within the central zone and no enforcement in all other zones after 5pm. However, yellow-line restrictions will remain in place on these two days.

What about Disabled Bays on streets outside the central zone? I understand these are still subject to the usual restrictions on Bank Holidays but I constantly find this is ignored and motorists park in the bays without displaying a Blue Badge. Obviously as it occurs on Bank Holidays there is nothing that can be done to penalise these motorists or have the vehicles removed. Perhaps you could clarify? Many thanks
